Washington, D.C.- The House of Representatives in a largely partisan 217-212 vote passed H.R. 1628 "The American Healthcare Act" with twenty republicans voting against the measure.
"A lot of us have been waiting seven years to cast this vote. Are we going to meet this test? Are we going to be men and women of our word?" -Speaker Paul Ryan
This vote followed the passage of H.R. 2192 or "The McSally Bill" introduced by Arizona republican Martha McSally, which amends Public Health Service Act; eliminating the Congressional exemption from the healthcare law.
Both bills will now move to the U.S. Senate, where they face an uncertain future as the final debate on American healthcare and the Democrat's last desperate defense of President Obama's legacy will take place.
