GUADALUPE GARCIA DE RAYOS, CONVICTED FELON IS DEPORTED. THE MEDIA HAILS HER AS A MARTYR.

On Thursday February 9th Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was deported back to Mexico. That isn’t the troubling part of this fascinating story. The trouble is the way the mainstream media is covering it.
Do you notice a trend?

The media has been bending over backwards to portray Mrs. Garcia de Rayos in the most glowingly positive and sympathetic possible light. Take for example the leads of two stories, first from AZCentral.com’s Daniel González whose story is entitled: “Arizona mom at center of immigration fight has been deported”
“A Mesa mother suddenly at the epicenter of the national debate over immigration enforcement has been deported, her attorney announced Thursday.”
Mrs. Garcia de Rayos is as much “A Mesa Mother” and an “Arizona Mom” as I am a Hermosillo Father and a Sonoran Dad. (Let the record show I was born and grew up in New Jersey). Even among ostensibly conservative sources the tone was politically cautious as Fox News reported:
“The undocumented woman who was deported to Mexico Thursday amid protests in downtown Phoenix said she felt like a criminal when she was rushed out of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices in a caravan of unmarked cars.
She complained she felt as if she were Mexican drug trafficker Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
“I felt like a criminal,” Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos told Mexican reporters in Nogales, where she is planning to settle for now.
Firstly I’m glad that Mrs. Garcia de Rayos feels like a criminal… she is one. And not merely in the sense that she violated immigration law by entering the U.S. illegally, no Guadalupe Garcia de Reyos is a convicted felon.
Now we’re getting somewhere, you see: the lead is buried quite deeply. After a great deal of reading I would find that Mrs. Garcia de Rayos is not some innocent woman between nations as we’re led to believe. Oh no, what Fox failed to tell us is that Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was convicted of criminal impersonation relating to her use of a stolen identity to acquire work in 2008 with a legal order requiring her return to Mexico active as of 2013.
ICE officials released a statement on Thursday:
"Garcia has a prior felony conviction in Arizona for criminal impersonation, and was the subject of a court-issued removal order that became final in July 2013," the statement said.
"Garcia’s immigration case underwent review at multiple levels of the immigration court system, including the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the judges held she did not have a legal basis to remain in the U.S. ICE will continue to focus on identifying and removing individuals with felony convictions who have final orders of removal issued by the nation’s immigration courts.”
According to AZCentral Garcia de Rayos was one of seven illegal immigrants captured and convicted following a raid on Golf Sunsplash Amusement park in Arizona in 2008. Isn’t it a bit odd, that once President Trump began pressing for enforcement of our existing immigration laws that suddenly the media rushed to capture the heart-tugging tale of this illegal immigrant? Especially when as CNN reports:
“She might be the first person deported from Arizona under President Trump's executive order, her attorney told CNN affiliate KNXV-TV”
Ah, there it is at last, the real reason for the media’s sudden fascination with this story. That’s the hook folks. The left’s new lady Guadalupe is possibly the first deportee due to President Trump’s executive orders according to Garcia de Rayos’ lawyer. So of course, she must be painted as a martyr, but we'll know better. Will know that the first deportee under the Trump Aministration's orders was an identity thief and a convicted criminal.
Were I to write the lead it would have read a bit like this:
“Convicted felon Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was deported back to Mexico on Thursday. Enforcement of Garcia de Rayos’ legal deportation order was delayed by eight years due lax enforcement of decades old immigration laws and pressure from the Obama Administration’s DOJ. However, today: justice was finally served.”
